A Recap of May 12-20, 2012

Hello Friends,

I woke up this morning with a phrase in my head and remembered when I was a child (around 16 years old) there was a television program entitled, “That Was the Way It Was 1964 – 65.” I did not watch it, of course, however, I am sure it summed up the preceding weeks of newsworthy events.  Well, here is my brief attempt at that was the week that was…. working backwards in time. I’ll start with this past Sunday. All I can say is “Thank you” to God for His faithfulness to His Word displaying His love and power towards and through Gary Wood and their daughter Angel. The most remarkable part (all being miraculous) about Gary’s story is how the anointing of God has kept it timeless, compelling and relevant for today.

Smith Wigglesworth made this statement decades ago, ”Faith laughs at impossibilities.” My friend Llana remarked that this family was a delightful package. I have to add to her comment that they are a precious gift to the body of Christ. Do you need a miracle from God? Read their books: “A Place Called Heaven” and “Angel’s Story.” (You can pick a copy up in our bookstore.)

Here at BCOC, God gives us the best and we are enjoying every minute of it. The Holy Spirit is equipping us as a strong local church that is impacting our community, state, nation and the world.  For that we are eternally grateful.

Next in “That Was the Week That Was”, the BCOC Annual Family Picnic was a great success with fellowship, food,  a water baptism, and a beautiful wedding (congrats Mandy and Joe). The children played and swam in the lake for hours. Tuesday morning was our last weekly ladies Bible study for the season, from September to May, nine months of continual feeding on the Word of God. Special guest this week was Lindsay Grace Stanek who presented her senior thesis:  “The Tortoise and the Hare…Embracing Slowness”, to the group.

It was such a pleasure to watch Lindsay give a beautiful, poised presentation of God’s wisdom on this subject. God’s warnings and encouragements come in so many different packages.

Remember the end of May is all about graduates and at BCOC we have all levels of achievements from high school (10 graduates), college and higher education and professional degrees. Congratulations to all! We are so proud of you. Last but not least the new members banquet Saturday night. This event gives BCOC an opportunity to serve a beautiful meal to our new members and our new members and opportunity to share their stories of how God was able to lead them to BCOC. There were so many remarkable testimonies of each person’s obedience to follow their hearts which were directed by the Holy Spirit.

From the BCOC church family, “Thank You” for listening to God and becoming a part of our great adventure with God. In 2 Cor. 2:12 (Message Translation), the apostle Paul stated, “When I arrived….to proclaim the message of the Messiah, I found the place wide open: God had opened the door; all I had to do was walk through it.”

Well, “That was the week that was!” As for next week the sky is the limit!”

Living the good life in Christ,
Pastor Mary
