Dear BCOC Family,

We are excited to share with you an update from a recent outreach to Reynosa, Mexico. In this letter, you will learn of ways you can get involved in the wonderful ministry at Big Heart Orphanage. Thank you for you love, prayers and support for all the things we are doing locally and around the world!

In His Love,
Pastor Scott & Maureen, Pastor Joan & Pastor Tony & Mary

Ways to get involved

PRAY: Pray for Big Heart, for the staff and the children. For healing. For resources to support a much needed ministry doing Kingdom work in the heart of Reynosa.

GIVE: We’ll be purchasing gifts for the children (and staff) for a “Big Heart Christmas”. You can help by donating money towards the purchase of these items. Click here to give to the Big Heart Orphanage Fund.

Our goal is to purchase gifts for 25 children @ $70.00 each, 12 gifts for staff @ $50 each for a total of $2,350.00
Here’s a breakdown…

  • Backpacks $25
  • Personalized Bibles $30
  • Stockings $15
  • Staff gifts $50

GO: Go discover for yourself the blessing of loving on these little ones, learning from them, and seeing the Kingdom of God in action.

Please contact Tammy Parker at shecountedhimfaithful@gmail.com or 512-581-1253 for dates for future trips.

True spirituality that is pure in the eyes of our Father-God is to make a difference in the lives of the homeless, orphans, and widows in their troubles, and to refuse to be corrupted by the world’s values.
– James 1:27

Friday: We arrived to smiles and hugs…

Some meeting one another for the first time, some reconnecting.
Since our last trip to Big Heart they have added two new little ones to their family…
Their stories, heartbreaking.Yet through it all the Father’s love speaks louder…This love that rescues, heals, transforms, and rewrites a new story (for us all).We spent the afternoon/evening loving on the kids, playing, painting nails, sharing a meal together, and just being present. They loved this. So did we.

Saturday was a full day.

The team woke up early and spent some time sharing, encouraging one another, having our morning coffee…just being family. These were sweet times where God connects hearts as only He can. After our time together we helped with breakfast and sweet Eva made us homemade crepes. Eva joined the Big Heart family 11 years ago and now serves as the 1st grade teacher at their private school: Regents.
Our breakfast was followed  by face painting, games, bubbles, lunch at a Taqueria with all the Big Heart kids, and water balloons! So much fun!

That afternoon, we went to help Mexico Missions with food distribution in the colonias along the canal and garbage dumps. The people came hungry in every way.

When we arrived we handed out the tracts that Lana had made.  After worship there was a short message and as the service was ending, Lana asked the minister to read the tract so everyone would have opportunity to hear.  He did. About 20 people came forward to give their lives to Jesus and our team was asked to pray with/minister to them. Shortly after this, Holy Spirit highlighted a young boy to Clara.  She and Sharion both had a word for him, and he gave His life to Jesus, too.

For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation! 2 Cor 6:2

One thing that was on our heart to do was cook/clean for the staff and give them a much deserved night off.  We did this on Saturday evening. We had purchased what we needed just before crossing the border (steak, potatoes, salad, fruit, and cake). Both staff and  kids LOVED it and were so grateful.

On Sunday morning we had breakfast with the children, and said our goodbyes before leaving for church in McAllen…

And on our way home I thanked Jesus…
For the way He sets the lonely in families
For His light that shines in the darkest of places
For His love that never, ever gives up.
