“Ye are the salt of the earth….”
— Matthew 5:13
I think that this scripture and prayer for the day from Rick Renner is fitting for what we see happening around the world at the moment. In the midst of fear and uncertainty, we put our trust in God and in His Word. As Max Lucado shared last night from his hotel room in New York City, as Christians we must pray and not panic. News of the spread of the coronavirus has created fear in many. Fear has torment. Fear and love are enemies. Fear and faith are not good friends. They are enemies. So, this day, we resist fear. We resist panic. We ask the Father of all lights to give us wisdom. We ask the Father to give wisdom to our leaders. He is the Good Shepherd, and we shall not want. “Yea though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me. Your rod and staff comfort me. You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies. My cup runs over. (Psalms 23).”
Let’s Pray Together:
“Lord, I am so thankful that You called me to be “the salt of the earth.” Today I want to step forward and surrender to be the salt of the earth that You intended me to be. Help me guard my mouth so that I speak words that bring preservation; words that make life better; words that bring healing to the sick; words that disinfect and free people who once were contaminated by evil; words that are filled with protection, safety, and deliverance; and words so faith-filled they create a blessed environment everywhere I go. Jesus has called me to be the salt of the earth, and that is exactly what I am going to be! (From You are Salt, March 5, 2020, Rick Renner)”
A Prayer from My Heart:
“Father, we ask that you give wisdom to our leaders worldwide who are on the frontlines working to fight the coronavirus. We pray Psalms 91 over our homes, our schools, our hospitals, our states, our country, and our world. You love this world and gave Your only son to die for each person. We put our trust in Your promises that we dwell in the secret place of the Most High God. We hear the prayer of the psalmist David who wrote, “You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death at noonday.” You have always been our hope in troubled times. We ask that the church of God globally would be a safe place for people in the coming days. You are our hiding place. We open our doors to let people come in and meet You, the Prince of Peace. Amen.”
We love you and our praying for you. Go out and be the salt of the earth. Remember He is the Light at the end of the road. His love never changes.
